As the Samsung N110 does not have a CD drive or a floppy drive, a USB Image needs to be created to install Ubuntu Netbook Remix.
You will need a USB dongle/drive/pendrive (whatever you like to call them) which is greater than 1GB.
The USB drive needs to be formatted so we can burn the image onto the drive.
**BACKUP ANY DATA WHICH IS ON THE USB DRIVE AS FORMATTING ERASES EVERYTHING ON IT**
I’m going to explain how to setup the USB image using Windows XP as this is the OS which comes preloaded on the Samsung N110.
Step one:
Download the HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool from the link below:
http://h50178.www5.hp.com/local_drivers/17550/SP27608.exe
Install the program by running the executable file. Once the installation is complete open the program.
Select the USB device which you want to format from the drop down list:

Select FAT32 as the file system type. Give the drive a name (any thing will do) and click Start.
Once the format is complete, the USB drive is ready to be written too.
Step two:
Download Ubuntu Netbook Remix from the link below:
http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download-netbook
Step three:
We now need to burn the .img file which you have just downloaded to the formatted USB drive. We are going to use a program called Win32 Disk Imager to do so.
Win32 Disk Imager can be downloaded from the link below:
http://launchpad.net/win32-image-writer/0.2/0.2/+download/win32diskimager-RELEASE-0.2-r23-win32.zip
Install the program and open it. Use the browse button (…) to select the image file:

Select the drive which you want the image burning to and click “Write”.

Once the installation is complete turn the N110 off, leaving the USB drive in the USB slot.
Step four:
Setting the boot order. When you turn the N110 on press the F2 key to enter the BIOS setup when you see the blue Samsung screen. nb – This screen only appears for a split second so you need to be quick (I repeatedly press F2 so i don’t miss it)! If you see the Windows XP boot screen you’ve gone too far! Press “Ctrl + Alt + Del” to reboot if you’ve gone too far.
Once you are in the BIOS menu go accross to the “Boot” menu. Go down to the “Boot Device Priority” option and press Enter. You should now see a list of devices. Move the cursor down until “USB HDD : NAME_OF_YOUR_USB_DRIVE” is highlighted. Press F6 until the highlighted option is at the top of the list (number one priority). Now Press F10 to exit saving changes. Your N110 should now boot from the USB drive.
Follow the on-screen instructions to install Ubuntu Netbook Remix.
thank information.
